The short version
Every fart and every user in Send A Fart can be reported from inside the app. Reports alert a human moderator within 15 minutes, and we commit to reviewing every one within 24 hours. You can also block anyone at any time, which cuts off contact immediately and doesn't wait on us.
What isn't allowed
Send A Fart is a rude-noise app, so crude humor is the entire point. What we don't allow is content aimed at hurting someone:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeted abuse of another person.
- Hate speech or slurs, including in usernames and display names.
- Sexual content, and anything sexualizing a minor — see our Child Safety Standards, where we have zero tolerance.
- Recordings of someone made or shared without their knowledge, or content that reveals private information about another person.
- Impersonating another person.
- Illegal content, or content promoting self-harm or violence.
- Spam, scams, or attempts to drive people to outside services.
This applies everywhere a user can put their own content: custom recordings, usernames, display names, and group names.
How to report
- Report a fart. Press and hold the incoming-fart banner, then choose Report.
- Report a person. Open the friend's row, tap the ⋯ menu, then choose Report.
- Block a person. Same ⋯ menu, or straight from the report screen. Blocking takes effect immediately: a blocked account disappears from your app and can no longer send to you.
- Unblock. Settings → Blocked users.
- Email us. support@sendafart.app, also reachable from Settings → Support inside the app.
You can add a reason and a note to any report. You never have to tell the other person you reported them, and we don't tell them either.
What happens after you report
A report notifies our moderator within 15 minutes. They review the report — including listening to the reported audio where there is any — and choose one of:
- No action, if nothing here breaks the rules.
- Remove the sound, which pulls it from the app so it can't be sent again.
- Suspend the account, which stops that person from sending anything and removes their recordings from the app.
We aim to complete this within 24 hours of the report arriving. Repeat or severe violations — anything involving a minor, credible threats, or illegal content — result in immediate permanent removal rather than a warning.
Where your content can actually go
Send A Fart is deliberately a closed network, which is a big part of how we keep it safe:
- A recording you make is visible only to you, and reaches another person only through a friendship they accepted or a group you're both in.
- Friend requests must be accepted before anything can be sent in either direction.
- There is no public feed, no broadcast, no stranger matching, and no way to discover users beyond your contacts or an exact username search.
- Usernames and display names appear on leaderboards, so they're covered by the rules above.
Appeals
If we removed your content or suspended your account and you think we got it wrong, email support@sendafart.app from the address on the account and tell us what happened. A human will look at it again. We'll reverse anything we got wrong.
Who to contact
Moderation and safety questions go to support@sendafart.app, monitored by Send A Fart's moderation lead. For child-safety matters specifically, see our Child Safety Standards. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first.
